30-day Challenge: Day 6

Matthew6_34

Day 6 is finally here! And it’s a Sunday!!!

It’s important to remember that part of that the 30-day challenge also involves attending at least 3 of the 4 Sunday services this month…AND inviting new members to the church! I love that this Challenge encourages us to fellowship in the House of God…and also bring new members to His presence!

Day 6: Examination of the Heart

Read Matthew 6

In this chapter the Lord Jesus gave further illustration of the righteousness of the kingdom. He gives caution against pretentious display of wealth intended to impress or for self-glorification. The Lord emphasizes on it is the purity of heart that should motivate a deed. Alms-giving, fasting, prayer and other good deeds are important but the crucial matter is one’s motive. What is important is not man’s approval but God’s. Our desire must be to please God in everything that we do.

Finally we must be eternity conscious and must not allow our heart to be filled and controlled by temporal material things so that they influence our life.

Outline:

  • Showing Righteousness to God Alone (6:1-18)
  • Righteousness When Only God Sees (6:1)
  • Doing Charity Secretly (6:2-4)
  • Fasting Secretly (6:16-18)
  • Do Not Value Possessions (6:19-34)
  • Do Not Value Possessions Enough to Seek Them (6:19-24)
  • Do Not Value Possessions Enough to Worry About Them (6:25-34)

Prayer:

  1. pray that God will create in you a clean heart and the fear of the Lord (Ps 24:3-5)
  2. pray that you will seek to glorify God in everything that you do
  3. Pray for a loving and compassionate heart especially for the needy.

Meditation:

“Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven”

I thank God for my church family at Jubilee. Today’s sermon talked about how a family provides support, counsels one another, protects & covers each other, prays for one another and motivates & encourages one another. JCCI has done all of these things for me since I joined. We are a United, Authentic and Victorious Community.

No man is an Island by himself, we build support, strength and more in a community… we are stronger in unity than in isolation… united will stand, divided will fall…

Building a community requires everyone buying into the vision, understanding what it takes to get everyone involved. That’s what we are about in Jubilee to be able to provide that support for everyone. So please come and join us as we continue to build stronger communities in 2013
