Day 10:Persistence Until Breakthrough

Genesis 32:24-28 (KJV)
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

One of the greatest weapon for turning things around and life’s breakthrough is persistence. You must push hard and push again without giving up or getting weary and discouraged.

Perseverance: Doggedness, persistence, pertinacity, tenaciousness, determination
No matter how bad your situation might seem, no matter how hopeless the circumstances, or how helpless you might feel, don’t lose heart. It may seem like God is far away and has abandoned you, but that is never the case. Instead, God wants you to learn how to persevere in your faith.

Perseverance wins all the time. No matter how long and how tough the battle is give it perseverance and you will win. The major secret of winning life’s battle lies in persistency, ability to stand when others fall under pressure.
When the road becomes rough and the future seems cloudy, one thing to do is to move on. You may fall 7 times, but if you persevere, you will rise again.

One of the best ways to give your best a chance is to rise up when you’re knocked down. A man is not finished when he fails, he is finished when he quits.

Some definite breakthrough will not come until we are left alone (from men’s promises and connection). Jacob fought and persevered for his destiny even heaven recognized his persistency.
‘I will not let thee go’…was the cry of a man fighting for his life, his future and family. Many give up too soon in a fight and they miss their miracle.

3 Powerful forces behind a Persistent breakthrough life:
Purposeful: Focused & determined prayer.
Patience: Ability to wait until it is done.
Positive-ness: Being optimistic and not pessimistic towards life.

I come against the spirit of weariness and discouragement in my life
I command every closed door to open for me
Lord, do some new things in my life in 2015 (Isa 43:19)

Day 9:The Power of Vows

1 Samuel 1:10-11 (KJV)
And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore. 11And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Normal prayer of faith without vow gets answer from God, however there are peculiar instances when vow makes the difference in prayer. Example: Hannah for a long time has been going to Shiloh to offer prayers for a son, but she got the result it appeared the year she added a vow in prayer; she vowed to give her son back to God. God recognizes such vows and He gave a miraculous answer to her prayer

Another man called Jephtae made a dangerous vow to God when he was facing a difficult battle. Out of his desperation and fear of defeat, he promised to offer to God if given victory in battle whatever came out to welcome. Unfortunately it was his only daughter that came to welcome him home. He kept the vow.
We are to be careful before we make our vows to God because he expected us to keep them. Unpaid vows and unkept promises can close down the heaven over a person

What roles vows play in our prayer?
It acts like a catalyst to prayer to get a sure answer.
It often forms a basis of pleading one’s case before God Ps. 51:11-15
It stimulates and elevates faith in God
It is also a way of giving thanks to God after the answer. Ps. 50:14-15

Lord remind any unpaid vows, unkept promises in my past that may hold down my future.
Lord, let the heavens over my life open and rain abundance
I receive your favor, mercy and blessings through out 2015

Day 8: Dangerous Sacrifice

2 Kings 3:21-27

2 Kings 3:26-27 (KJV)
26 And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.
27 Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

There are certain things we can do to provoke a miracle. When the battle is peaked and solution impossible, we must do the unusual to receive the uncommon breakthrough of life. Here was a heathen king at a critical time in a battle who turned the tide of war around by offering his son, the crown prince and heir apparent. By this act, he brought the war to an end.

The challenge for many us is we are not willing to confront our trouble headlong; we spare ourselves, we do the minimum while we are expecting the maximum.

Here are some ways we can accomplish supernatural breakthrough:

Dangerous service:

Doing more than others in the house of God. There was the example of a lady in top management position who decided to be cleaning the church by herself instead of paying somebody to do so. Such sacrifice gets the attention of God and her prayers were answered.

Dangerous Giving:

Example of Solomon who offered to God a thousand offering comes to mind here. God came down and asked him what he wanted and this led to Solomon receiving divine wisdom.

In the New Testament, we read of the woman who broke her alabaster jar of oil to anoint the Lord. She was specially blessed for such a sacrifice.

Another example is David in 2 Samuel 24:24 (KJV)
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

Doing the unusual when inspired by the Spirit of God will open the door to uncommon breakthrough in life.

Father, give me unusual, uncommon breakthrough in every area of my life.
Lord, help me to take necessary steps of faith and obedience to your word
Lord, take over the battles of my life, come to my rescue at the nick of time

Day 6: Breakthrough By Obedience

2 Corinthians 10:6

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Many believers live in disobedience and wonder why nothing seems to work for them.
God loves the obedient child and resent the disobedient even as parents do when their kids listen and obey. To enjoy the provisions of heaven, your qualifying requirement is an obedient life. Many believers hear and know the will of their Father, but they don’t do them.

Total obedience…every aspect of life. You cannot obey him inside the Church and disobey in your finances and expect him to prosper you. Many believers compartmentalize their lives. They obey outside but live in disobedience in private life. If you desire a major breakthrough in your life, obedience to God is not an option

Cost of Disobedience:

The price of disobeying God is too high and takes sometimes eternity to finish paying it. I beg you therefore to give Him obedience in your life.
Human race is still paying for Adam’s disobedience. Here are few things disobedience will cost us:
Rejection from God (Saul)
Loss of great opportunity in life.
Loss of ministry and life. (The Young prophet and Gehazi).
Loss of peace and favor with God (Jonah)

Lord, give me grace to live a life of obedience through out 2015
Forgive me for every act of disobedience in my life
Let me eat the fruit of obedience in my life

Day 5: Covenant Relationships

1 Samuel 10:17-26
1 Samuel 10:26 (KJV)
And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.

You need covenant relationships, people who are going to stand with you for your breakthrough.

Saul got new assignment, new appointment. He needed advisers, supporters, foot soldiers etc. So God acted on his behalf. He raised a band of men to finance his ministry, He touched their hearts without the involvement of Saul. He never needed to persuade, cajole, plead or coerce them. Their hearts already melted for him.

God knew exactly who Saul needed to succeed, he found them. He didn’t touch their legs, their eyes or mouth. He touched their hearts because the heart controls the man.

If you need a breakthrough in a certain area, don’t hang around with people who are going to pull you down in that area. If you want a breakthrough in your health, be careful you are not hanging around with people who don’t believe in healing. Find those who will stand with you and believe with you.

This is covenant relationship. We need covenant relationships for major breakthroughs, those who will be true with you, lovingly confront you and stand with you until you get to the other side.

Lord, release the right people into my life in 2015
Lord send my way helpers of destiny. I loose them from wherever they are, I locate them and receive them into my life.
Open my eyes those you have sent to my life.
Lord, touch the hearts of men to favor and help me.

Day 4: Clear Vision, Clear Focus and Clearly Stated Objectives

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he

Successful people are goal setters and goal getters. For you to experience breakthroughs in life, you must have a clear vision of what you want and a clearly stated objectives.

Purpose is the driving force that enables a man to weather the rough storm of life. Joseph pursued His dreams looking for answer to its fulfillment everywhere until it was realized.

Until you are a goal setter, you never become a goal getter. No one scores a goal without a goal post. To have no aim for living is to be aimless in life… anything goes.

If you aim at nothing, you hit nothing and you get nothing. If you aim at 5 things in a year and you hit 2 is better than aiming at nothing. A man boarding the plane with you without idea of a destination is dangerous: either a terrorist or crazy.

If you don’t know what you are looking for, how do you know when you find it?

Lord, give me a clear vision and purpose in life
Let 2015 be a year of clear objectives and accomplishments for me
I declare I shall not run or labor in vain. I shall reach my destination in life, I shall see the fulfillment of my life’s goals

Day 3: True Breakthroughs

To read this post directly on the blog, click here:

Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
There are some breakthroughs that are not desirable, they are called “breakdowns”. Some opportunities are death-traps in disguise, they complicate your life and leave you miserable. Some blessings are burdens, they will rob you of your peace of mind. Not everything that falls down from the sky is manna, not every open door is divine!

It is important that believers don’t jump into everything that comes their ways without adequate prayer and direction from the Lord.
True breakthroughs are blessings from the lord without adding sorrow.

Requirement for True Breakthrough:

  1. Patience. Avoid impatience, it will only give you alternative breakthrough.
  2. Avoid greed. It will lead to bad choice
  3. Seek counsel and direction
  4. Be prayerful

Lord, deliver me from the snare of the fowler. Let me not walk into traps
Lord, I receive true blessings without sorrows from the Lord
Open my eyes to recognize divine opportunities

Day 2: Boldness Before Breakthrough

Judges 3

15  But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

16  But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

21  And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly

Ehud was a bold man, he demonstrated boldness in the face of challenges, he did what few people were willing to do. By his hand God gave Israel a breakthrough and deliverance from the hands of their enemies.

Boldness is a precursor of Big breakthroughs. There are places you will never be in life, opportunities you will never handle until you summon up your courage and challenge the challenges of your life.

God gave similar charge to Joshua at the onset of the conquest of the Promised Land. Your promised land awaits you, but you will never step in without boldness.

B: Believe

O: Overcome your fear

L: Leap of Faith

D: Declare victory with your mouth

  • Lord, remove fear from my life
  • Lord help me to confront the enemies of my breakthrough with courage and in confidence.
  • Disgrace and displace the ‘Eglons’ of life standing in my way.
